The Christian Health Association of Kenya (CHAK) is a prominent national faith-based organization representing Protestant churches’ health facilities and programs across Kenya. Established in the 1930s as a Hospitals’ Committee of the National Christian Council of Kenya (NCCK), it evolved into the Protestant Churches Medical Association (PCMA) in 1946, and later adopted the name CHAK in 1982 to broaden its mandate in facilitating the church’s role in healthcare and healing.
Mission and Activities
CHAK’s mission is to promote access to quality healthcare by facilitating member health units through advocacy, health systems strengthening, networking, and innovative health programs. The organization provides technical support, capacity building, coordination, advocacy, and networking for its members, which include over 500 health facilities and community-based health programs across Kenya.
