About Company

BBC Media Action is the BBC’s international development charity, established in 1999 (originally as the BBC World Service Trust). It operates independently, both legally and financially, from the BBC, though it shares the BBC’s editorial standards and values. The charity works across the globe, particularly in developing countries, using media and communication to empower communities, improve lives, and promote positive social change.

The organization believes in the transformative power of trusted information, especially in areas experiencing conflict, poverty, or inequality. It collaborates with local media, governments, and civil society organizations to produce impactful media content, train journalists, and support media infrastructure.

In December 2011, it rebranded from BBC World Service Trust to BBC Media Action to better reflect its role and mission.
